Hungary: Cycling around Lake Balaton: Day 1

Our journey around Lake Balaton began and a little more than 200 kilometres was ahead of us. Our plan is simple, cycle around in 2 days. On our first day we started in Keszthely and finished in Siófok, some earlier, other later.

Cyclists (Borut, Boštjan, Primož, Vlado, Rok, Danica, Saška, Nada, Tuši) and support crew (Vid, Žiga and Tanja).

Largest lake in Central Europe. The Zala River provides the largest inflow of water to the lake, and the canalised Sió is the only outflow.

It has an area of 598 square km and extends for 77 km along the southern foothills of the Bakony Mountains of Hungary. At it widest point, Lake Balaton measures about 14 km across. Its maximum depth is 11 metres.

We finished our day in Siófok, where we had nice apartments with the pool.
